Google Discover is a content recommendation feed that appears on the Google app homepage and Chrome new tab page on mobile devices. Unlike Google Search, users do not need to enter a query to see Discover content. Google surfaces articles, blog posts, and web pages based on user interests, browsing history, and content quality signals.
To qualify for Google Discover, websites must meet specific technical requirements including HTTPS, mobile-friendliness, and crawlability. Beyond these gates, Google evaluates signals like image optimization (max-image-preview:large meta tag, images 1200 pixels or wider), structured data (Article or NewsArticle JSON-LD), content freshness (regular publishing via RSS feeds), author attribution, and trust signals.
